Here’s a simple fact – all men have a Prostate therefore all men are at risk of a Prostate Problem at some time in our lives! And that “Prostate Problem” may well not be Prostate Cancer!
The most common Prostate Problem is an enlarged prostate; medically this is referred to as Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (“BPH”). So what are the chances of you getting it? It depends on your age:
- 31-40 – it’s 1 in 12
- 51-60 – it’s gone up to 1 in 2; and
- Over 80 – more than 8 in 10!!!
Those aren’t odds you can ignore!
Other Prostate Problems are Prostatitis – i.e. an inflamed or infected prostate – and, of course, Prostate Cancer.
So how do we look after our Prostate? How can we recognise if we have a problem building up? And if the worst comes to the worst, what are the treatments?
